We support small-scale seaweed farmers by introducing user-friendly technologies, improving cultivation processes, and diversifying seaweed products to boost productivity, sales, and income.
Project Type
- Test Potential Solutions
THE PROBLEM
Small-scale seaweed farmers often lack knowledge of proper cultivation techniques and disease management, resulting in low productivity and inconsistent quality. They also face limited market access and rely on traditional methods for processing dried seaweed.
THE SOLUTION
Kopernik is supporting communities by introducing accessible, user-friendly technologies such as solar dryers. We are strengthening seaweed cultivation practices through training, followed by regular mentoring and monitoring. In addition, we will introduce diversified value-added products (VAPs) through targeted capacity-building activities.
THE EXPECTED IMPACT
This intervention aims to improve seaweed cultivation and generate additional revenue streams for small-scale seaweed farmers by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge in cultivation practices and processing.
